Traditionally, medical specialists are asked to provide their medical opinion on an individual’s work capacity, however, the required functional testing to provide such an opinion commonly falls outside of their scope and expertise.
Red Plus streamlines the process by providing a functional capacity evaluation and an independent medical examination at once. This combination provides a more accurate and reliable report, saves time and money, and enhances the outcome of your case.

How it works
Our Red Plus service combines an independent medical assessment (IME), performed by a medical expert (e.g. orthopaedic surgeon) with a customised functional capacity evaluation (FCELite) performed by an occupational therapist.
Your chosen medical expert will use the results from the FCELite as evidence to support their medical opinion on work capacity and daily living activities – questions most commonly asked in personal injury or superannuation claims.
You can combine an FCELite with most specialties; the most common are:
- Orthopaedic Surgeon (Ortho+)
- Psychiatrist (Psych+)
- Neurosurgeon (Neuro+)
- Rehabilitation Physician (Rehab+)
- Occupational Physician (OEP+)
What is an FCELite?
FCELite is a tailored functional capacity
evaluation that involves:
Observing physical and behavioural responses to movement and tasks
Assessing walking, reaching, sitting, pushing, carrying, and so on
Evaluating quality of movement, use of supports, and range of motion
Comparing of pre-injury work history to current participation in their role
Assessing meaningful activities in daily life, leisure, social life, or employment
